\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tERWO (Elza Retina Welfare Organization) was founded in 2017 by the eminent eye surgeon Dr Mukhtar Ahmad.\u00a0 It is the first registered NGO in Pakistan for free treatment of retinal diseases for the needy. It also provides an affordable treatment for all eye diseases. This includes but is not limited to providing free glasses, medication as well and prevention of blindness with priority to retinal health.<\/span>\r\nERWO has a tertiary care location Nawabshah and another one in Karachi, Pakistan.\u00a0 The total covered area of the entire center in Nawabshah will be 32000sq\/ft. to be built in phases.<\/span>\r\nFriends of ERWO, USA Chapter:\r\n<\/span><\/strong>Dr Abdul Rashid has been the ERWO governing body’s founding executive member. He is a prominent medical practitioner from Texas. In 2019, Dr Rashid launched the Friends of ERWO USA chapter as a registered charity and has been running it successfully.<\/span>\r\nFriends of ERWO, Canada Chapter (FEC):<\/span><\/strong>\r\nDr Rana Siddiqui, a clinician from Toronto came on board as executive member of the ERWO governing body in 2022. She is a visiting consultant with Ontario Health in northern hospitals, has been involved with GAC (Global Affairs of Canada) volunteering in Ethiopia as a Health system advisor, a visiting faculty in a couple of universities in Pakistan, Founder Chairperson of Toronto chapter of OPEN (Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs). In 2023, Dr. Siddiqui founded Friends of ERWO, Canada chapter, and registered it as an NFP organization.
